Support Local Filmmaker!

On November 15th the Local Filmmakers Night series will feature the Theatre-Film Hybrid Journey of Carol Escobar, a local theatre director, actor, improvisational teacher and performer. During the last two year, Escobar has been utilizing local access media resources and applying her theatre skills to create TV programs and short skits and is now in the midst of a full length film.

Escobar has produced her political satire and comic commentary on social issues with minimal to no budget, bringing together over a dozen volunteer actors and a few Access media producers. “The secret is to feed them,” said Escobar who brings her own home cooking to every studio shoot.
The evening will feature some of Escobar’s works, including Bobby Keene Corporate World, which is based on a true story, Grannies Baked Goods, and selected stories from Grave Matters, a unique theatrical production, telling the stories of individuals buried at the Fortuna Cemetery.

Local Filmmakers Night, a collaboration between Access Humboldt, Film Humboldt and the Eureka High School Media Club, is a screening series that supports and promotes the local film community. The event is held at the Eureka High School Lecture Hall on the corner of Humboldt St. and K St. (next to the Gymnasium).

A Q & A will follow Escobar’s screening. Movie trivia, prizes, and a reception will follow at the adjacent Access Humboldt Community Media Center
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Screening starts at 7 p.m. Cost of admission is $5 per person and all are welcome to attend.
